The other night I was watching a religious broadcast on our local cable access station. Yes I'm that sick and that bored. I think Dancin Stevie best described the sounds of their singings as what it must sound like to beat an elderly goose. In fact if a blind person happened by with this playing in the background they would feel compelled to call the ASPCA. Anybody out there have a similar experience?

I'm sure hese people mean well but you are right it is torturous to hear them on the air. But damn it is hard to turn them off once you find them.

Kev - Natas Sevil...As I once stated to a female at the Brewery, to be a devil worshipper I have to believe in your god. She didn't like that too much.

Sorry, was meaning that in more of a figurative way than a literal one. Once more my Judeo-Christian perspective has caused me to be myopic to the views and beliefs of others, I must be more open mined in the future.

No worries. Everyone knows I am evil and just assumes I worship a fictious entity.

So, like Wong, you don't believe in any higher power, you think like were just here by cosmic accident?

I'm not sure who you were asking the question of, but personally I am a Deist in my belief system. Definition for the ignorant and lazy; Deist: a person who believes in the existence of a remote, unknowable deity, usually male, who created the universe, but has not been involved with it since. Most of the politicians who founded America were Deists

One has to take care as not to confuse religous belief with that of science. They are two seperate issues.
I believe that religion was created as a means for leaders to explain what they could not. Which eventually turned into a means for controlling the uneducated and now a very profitable occupation. Most people worship some form of God now, because their ancestors did and that's what they were taught. Yet, nothing about religion is tangible.
As a scientist (yes I am a scientist), I accept the fact that you can have neither the chicken nor the egg without some kind of intervention. And like Kev I would be classified a Deist.

Wong is very right. At one point I was actually one of the masses. Then it hit me one day that I was surrounded by a bunch of sheep. Nobody there could give me a reason for what they believed, just that that was they way things were because the preacher said it. It was basically like that everywhere I went. I even made the mistake once of refering to a bible that wasn't the King James edition to a southern baptist. I thought they were going to try to condemn me to hell right there. It was at that point I became a Diest, though at the time I didn't know that was the preferred nominclature.

It is better to be a goose beater than a chicken fucker. Wong I didn't know you could be an explosive's scientist, that may be the coolest thing I've ever heard.

So let me get this straight. Pat did this thread originate based on the aged troll that used to give the tomahawk chop when Paul David Hicks used to preach on public access?
Note: I use 'preach' loosely. As Wong and I both know, his foray into organized religion was nothing more than a shell front to confuse the IRS agents nipping at his proverbial short-man platform heels.
