As you all may or may not be aware, Highlord went racing this past weekend. Given Highlord's past record with speed and his lack of contact on this board I would like to put a call out to any and all that knew or know him, for eulogies to be posted on this thread.

I am not quite so easy to "end."
The car was fast, as was the track. I was at Carolina Motor Park in Kershaw, SC. We were Open Tracking at CMP, not racing against each other so much. It is more about racing the track. There is passing, but we don't keep track of what position we finish in.
CMP is a difficult track to master, but is still forgiving with wide run off areas and minimal danger of hitting concrete walls.
Now there is talk of Roebling Road or Road Atlanta, where it is not unheard of to wreck on the parade lap. It is tight with concrete all around. The Copperhead will need about $4k in goodies to slither that one safely.
This is going to be expensive. You may need to eulogize then. If I come out of Atlanta with only a limp, I will feel like $100.

Sorry, just being proactive. Pat and Weaver were dividing up your things, so I figured I would honor your memory.

I was thinking of a marker where you, me and Peace, "slaughtered the bull". Or a simple headstone in Turrly so we can drink together from time to time.

Derrick can't die in a vehicle. Did you ever see the first T-bird post-crash? Anyone who can live through that and walk away must be immortal.

Why no 667, the neighbor of the beast?
The old man has finally gone mad, as all our fathers surely must. He was concerned about door banging with other cars when I went to the track. He said "you've spent all that time and money on that car, and now you're gonna fuck it up."
He loves my car, and when I let him borrow it, he is much harder on it than I am. He also must have been having visions of "Days of Thunder" when I told him where I was going for the weekend.
I tried to explain to dad that these were not purpose built race cars, and that the people there loved their cars more than their wives and children.
The notion of a driver wanting to pass someone so badly there that they would risk rubbing doors was less likely than getting EPA approval to build an inverted shithouse.

We were just taking care of the necessities of your things, just in case the worst happened. It was far better than letting anybody else handle your estate. After all Eric and I would make great caretakers.

Ok, now's the time I actually begin posting. I received many a phone call regarding Derrick's demise. Everyone was concerned about my well being... at least I think that's why they called my asking about my plans after Derrick's certain death or destruction on the race track.
Rather than sit at home and ponder what my life would be like without guns, booze, cars, and more guns, I chose to catch up on some things I had neglected. Nevertheless the phone rang off the hook with people wanting to know what was going on at our house. S. even showed up and I had a fleeting moment where I thought I may show up at the door with gun in hand as instructed by Derrick. Instead I bellowed a cautionary "Who's there?" at which I received the answer "Brian Smith!" I immediately answered the door and told him I was on my way to get the gun. Previously at my old residence I decided to open the door to a homeless prior convict and was GREATLY admonished by Derrick. So, at this time I would like to assure S. that I do not wish to kill, mame, or wound him in any way but that I was only follwing expicit directions set out before me. "DO NOT answer the door without the gun near to you!!!"
The moral of this story is that Derrick will wind up being ok when you are sure he will wind up being destroyed. In fact, he will be ok enough to come home and let you have it for answering the door to any Joe Schmoe off the street without taking the necessary precautions. I was even admonished by Highlord AND Whiskey for anwsering the door for Ash before they could get the gun safe open. And you worry about him being in a car!

Yes, I live with Highlord. I don't put up with Patrick's shit, I ignore it when at all possible. When he gets out of hand I have Whiskey apply hands-head.
