I don't know if any of you (especially Meat) read what transpired last night, but yesterday they released the program notes to the new Pally patch. It essentially said "its fine learn2play."
There was an insurrection on par with Turkey Creek and Sibicue from the Pallie community (basically the Ret guys). Many cancelled or deleted their pallies. I myself gave all my money to Beline (Meredith) and was about to delete, but decided to wait til the changes went live.
Caydium (the blizz rep) asked--after the forum had gone totally ape shit--what the number one request would be were there still time to fix anything. By a large majority, the sentiment was that BoK was a total waste of a 31 point talent in the ret tree. And that we needed some kind of strike there since Ret SHOULD be the PVP tree.
Well, shockingly, She came back a few hours later and announced more changes that were going up on the test server. The most important being that Repentance is being moved to the 31 spot in Ret, and BoK is now 11 point in prot.
This is not exactly what we wanted, but it does give us direct damage if used in conjunction with JoC (which hits pretty hard now). Of course, now the Prot guys are going mad because they moved Holy Shield to the 31 spot in Prot. They did reduce the mana cost. If they will buff it a little, and give them some sort of snap aggro, they will be happy.
Many, including the prot guys, wanted Reckoning moved to Ret too, and maybe nerfed a bit by lowering the stored charges limit a bit (I'd love 3). There are still things moving...but I will stave off suicide for my Pally a few more days.
I would be thrilled with Reck and Repent BOTH in the Ret tree. But Rep is huge. Before, I simply could not beat a mage 1v1 if they were played properly because they could blink out of stun, and kill me from range. Now though, if the changes stick, we can stun (maybe judge command on them before they blink, then repent them, and judge them again. ) A decent proc on your SoC, and then maybe you can get a hammer of wrath off, if you don't one shot them with your SoC. This in conjunction with the fact that excorcisms will work on Demons now (read, warlock's pets) means that we have a fighting chance v Squishies.
It will not make the class what it should be, but it should make it a little more viable in PvP.

Clearly they have no f*cking clue what they want to do for pallies are blizzard. I understand that the current changes have prolly been in the pipe for several months and reworking them for 1.9 is out of the question... so they had two options.. drop the changes (rework for a later patch)... or move them around. And they selected moving talents around... what a damn joke.

Why do we have to stun something to do damage.... that seems a little out of character for the paladin? Would a lawful paladin strike someone that cannot defend themselves? Oh wait.. this isn't a D&D paladin.... I believe thats where they went wrong.

You are right. Worse yet, so many players over there have totally accepted what Blizzard has made the paladin. Have you read the NEW class description? Clearly, the writer hasn't played a pally.
"Paladins are unique in that they can serve a dual-role in a party. Capable of wearing heavy armor and dealing huge amounts of damage, Paladins are frequently cast as tanks in a group; however, the healing abilities of the Pally also offer the potential for them to serve as primary healers. Special care is required should a group decide to use a Paladin as their central healer since Paladin's possess limited mana resources; consequently, a Paladin that accepts the role of primary healer should focus less on fighting and more on conserving their mana should any party members become injured or, worst case, dead. Paladins make fantastic additions to any party due to the powerful buffs they provide through auras and blessings. PvP on a one-on-one basis can be difficult for Paladins, however, due to their limited range (although, future patches are rumored to correct this issue). Still, a Paladin should be able to make short work of cowardly adversaries that choose to run from battle through the judicious use of Hammer of Justice and Seal of Justice to stun them as they flee."
This is funny.

If by "Tank" they mean stand in the back and heal/cleanse/buff, and if by "huge amounts of damage" they mean the least in the game, then this description is nearly accurate. The notion of using seal of justice to stop an enemy from fleeing in PvP is laughable.

Somehow, Stonetalon is the one Flightpath in the whole game that I don't have. I went through the South Part one time to get to Desolace, but have never gone back.
