I'm not sure what to think. I would have rather had the General. Not that basketball really matters, but you like to do the best you can when you can, you know.

If the powers that be at UT really wanted to put asses in seats they would have given us Bobby Knight. Instead we get a nobody who led a nothing team to a cinderella performance in the Big Dance. Pearl will be out in 4 years.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. We have had great success in the past at Basketball, and had four 20 win seasons in a row a few years back.
I would say we are like the Oklahoma Sate of Basketball.

Pat Summit should coach the men. She obviously knows what works.

To paraphrase the good man Small Mike, "she and the broad shoulders did win 6 championships...and that's cute, but the men's game is totally different."
She is better at what she does than any of us at what we do, and she deserves props at that.

Pat could have some success coaching men, in fact the General himself saw potential in her as a men's coach. But why would she leave her very established program to coach a team that's been in the shitter the last few seasons? She is the best coach in women's basketball and she would only sully her record coaching the men.

She could do the X's and O's just as well, but recruiting would be the key. Decent to good players would be bombarded with other schools recruiting tactics about "going to play for a woman," and the like. Given the primitive craniums most teenage men possess, let alone ones that are basketball dolts, that tactic would probably be effective. Pat won't leave her job and place her well earned prestige on the line for some Michael Jordan post career return that turns into a bad joke.

I gave up on UT basketball when they lost to Western Carolina in The Wade Houston years.I think it was either 92 or 93.Bruce Pearl will put people in the stands, but when they go to the NIT it will be like it was before over at T.B.A.

For me, it just hasn't been the same since Dale Brown punched Carlus Groves.
