The final Batman story arc that leads into "Infinite Crisis," and out the other end with the One Year Gap (including that spoiler I mentioned).
Anyway.
The story arc, which wraps up Batman and the Red Hood, was supposed to be called "God Only Sees Us Kill."
DC's legal department took issue with the title at the 11th Hour The whole "God" thing. So Winick proposed "the gods only see us kill" in nice small letters. Still no. Too reminiscent of the first. So Winick went with "They Only Watch Us Kill." He got a "no" again, this time the "shooting" aspect was the problem.
Dan DiDio told legal to shut up and let the last one stand. He offered to go back to the second one, but Winick let it go.
The arc is meant to be quite the doozy. Lots of positive murmurings around DC. And remember, Winick is on the dark side of the DC Universe...
